Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This policy explains what the Hydrate+ app ("Hydrate", "we") collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Hydrate+ apps for iPhone, iPad and Android and to rehydrate.app.
Information We Collect
- Account: your name, email address and how you sign in (email and password, Google or Apple). If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email", we only receive Apple's relay address. A phone number, if you choose to add one when you register.
- Hydration data you enter: drinks, amounts, times and notes, your daily goal, reminder schedule and app settings.
- Health data (only if you turn on "Sync with Health"): we write the water you log to Apple Health or Health Connect, and read your weight and recent activity from it to suggest a daily goal. Health data is used only on your device for these features. It is not sent to our servers or to any third party, is not used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold.
- Friends and leaderboards: your display name, friend code, friends list and hydration totals.
- Contacts (only when you invite someone): you pick a contact on your device and we use their phone number to open a pre-filled text message in your messaging app. We do not upload or store your contacts.
- Camera: used only to scan a friend's QR code. Images are not stored or uploaded.
- Purchases: your subscription status. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your payment details.
- Support conversations (only when you contact us): when you use "Chat with us", email support, or the contact form on our support page, we keep your messages together with your name, email address, account identifier and app details (app version, device type and operating system, language and time zone), so we can answer you and follow up.
- Notification token (only if you allow notifications): your device's push notification token, so we can let you know when support replies.
- Usage and diagnostics: app events, crash reports, performance data and session recordings that show how screens are used, linked to a random account identifier rather than your name or email.
- Advertising (free version only): Google AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and IP address to show and measure ads, only with your permission where required.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide water tracking, sync your data across your devices, and show your progress and streaks
- Schedule hydration reminders (these are scheduled on your device)
- Run friend features and leaderboards
- Grant Premium, including time unlocked by watching a rewarded ad (the ad provider tells our server which account earned the reward)
- Show ads to users of the free version
- Answer your support requests and notify you when we reply
- Fix problems, improve the app, and keep the service secure
Who Can See Your Information
- Other Hydrate users can see your display name, friend code and hydration totals on friend lists and leaderboards. Someone who knows your exact email address — or your phone number, if you added one — can find you to send a friend request. A friend request shows the recipient your name and email address.
- Service providers that run parts of the app for us (listed below), only for the purposes above.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Third-Party Services
- Google Firebase: sign-in, data storage, server functions, analytics, crash reporting and performance monitoring
- Google AdMob: ads in the free version, including Google's consent message for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
- RevenueCat: subscription management
- Microsoft Clarity: usage analytics and session recordings
- Apple and Google: Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, Apple Health, Health Connect, app store purchases, and delivering notifications (Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging)
- Cloudflare: hosts our customer support system and support email, and stores support chats and emails
Your Choices
- Health: turn "Sync with Health" on or off in Settings, and manage access in the Health app or Health Connect.
- Advertising: on iPhone and iPad you can allow or deny tracking. Where consent is required, use "Ad privacy choices" in Settings to review or change it. Premium removes ads.
- Notifications: change reminders in the app, or turn off Hydrate+ notifications (including support replies) in your device settings.
Your Privacy Rights
- Access and portability: email us for a free copy of your data. Premium members can also export their water data as a CSV file in the app.
- Correction: update your information in the app, or ask us to.
- Deletion: delete your account in Settings → Manage Data → Delete account. This removes your account and all associated data: water entries, settings, custom drinks, friend codes and requests, notification tokens, and your place on friends' lists and leaderboards. Support conversations are kept in our support system so we can refer back to them; email us and we will delete them.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have further rights, including objecting to or restricting some processing. Email us to use them.
Data Retention
- Account and hydration data is kept while your account is active
- When you delete your account, your data is removed from our database immediately, and any remaining copies within 30 days
- Support conversations are kept until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them to help you
- Analytics and crash data are kept for a limited period under each provider's retention settings
Data Security & Storage
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
- Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States; support conversations are stored with Cloudflare in the United States
- Access to your data is restricted to your own account by security rules
Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this page, and the date above, when this policy changes. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
